The Adoption Challenge

Deciding to adopt a child is a big step in one's life.  A couple who has endured the frustrations and heartache of infertility may find the adoption process overwhelming.  Unfortunately, couples desperate to adopt frequently take the first alternative presented to them.  Left unguided, many prospective adoptive couples unknowingly lengthen the adoption process or pursue a path of adoption that does not meet their needs.

Adopting in the 21st century is a highly complex process. Today, there are far fewer babies to adopt compared with the number of couples who want them.  There are several major kinds of adoptions, including agency and private, ranging from completely confidential to totally open and identified.

  


As an adoption consultant, I can facilitate the adoption process for you.  Whether you need help with infertility issues, adoption, surrogacy or post-adoption issues, my approach involves three basic steps.

  • First - Assess Your Needs

Adoption involves several stages.  Some couples still need to work on infertility issues.  Others are not yet sure adoption is right for them.  Still others are ready to contact adoption resources or have already started the adoption process.  I will work with you to assess you present needs and determine how I can most benefit you.

  • Second - Plan of Action

I will help you determine an appropriate plan of action.  As an example, for prospective parents we will discuss adoption:  domestic vs. international, agency vs. private, identified vs. unidentified, etc.  We will develop a plan that meets your needs and desires.
 

  • Third - Implementation

Once a plan has been established, I will recommend adoption resources which specifically fit your needs.  My extensive knowledge of adoption and agencies will most likely save you valuable time and money.  With my guidance, I can help you realize your dream of having a child sooner rather than later.

In addition, I can tell you what to expect and what questions to ask as you move along the adoption process.  I will assist you in every way so that you will make informed decisions.  I will be available to give you guidance and support whenever it is needed.

In addition, I can make certain tasks in the adoption process easier.  Whether it means offering suggestions to you in filling out an application, writing your Dear Birth Mother letter or preparing an effective photo journal, I am there to offer my professional expertise.
